Massage

Massage is one of the most powerful and ancient forms of therapy to relieve stress, relieve pain, rejuvenate the body and maintain optimal health! It is a system of therapeutic touch and hands-on healing involving pressing, kneading. stretching, moving fluid/lymph and releasing muscles on various areas of the body and different forms we offer are remedial massage, relaxation massage, pregnancy massage, oncology (cancer rehab) massage, sports massage, lymphatic drainage and deep tissue massage.

Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments) and the nervous system (and brain) to release powerful neurotransmitters (like serotonin and oxytocin) which help reduce pain and stress, flush oedema and improve muscle tone, flexibility and movement.

Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), shifting fluid and improving the elimination of waste and toxins throughout the body. Perfect for keeping you and baby healthy during pregnancy (and avoiding those swollen feet and pressure areas) and perfect for peri-menopause to help with some of the body changes, fluid and body aches that occur.

All of our Massage Therapists are full diploma qualified and therefore are able to provide private health fund rebatable treatments.

Here are the top 10 benefits you can expect from our massage therapy services:

  1. Relaxation that envelops your being, inviting peace and calm.
  2. Stress relief that goes beyond the surface, touching the core of your wellbeing.
  3. Pain relief that addresses the root of discomfort, not just the symptoms.
  4. Improved circulation and fluid dynamics, reducing swelling and enhancing health.
  5. Stimulation of healing and blood flow, nurturing the body’s natural recovery processes.
  6. Enhanced elimination of toxins and lactic acid, purifying your system.
  7. Ease of tension and stiffness, restoring flexibility and movement.
  8. Improved breathing and sleep quality, contributing to your overall health.
  9. Mood boost, thanks to the release of happiness-inducing hormones.
  10. Enhanced mental health and well-being, fostering a positive outlook on life.

Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiologists (EPs) are not just personal trainers. They’re health professionals who have gone to university to learn all about how exercise can help people with different health issues, like chronic conditions, injuries, or disabilities. They know how to create safe and effective workout plans that are based on science. This means they can help a wide range of people, not just those looking to get fit or lose weight.

Is an EP the same as a Physiotherapist? No, they’re similar but not the same. Both EPs and Physiotherapists study for at least four years at university, but they focus on different things. EPs are all about using exercise to prevent and manage chronic diseases, help with recovery from injuries, and improve overall health. Physiotherapists diagnose and treat muscle and joint problems and use exercises, hands-on treatment, and other methods to help.

At Liberty Women’s Wellness, our EPs work closely with Physiotherapists and other health professionals to make sure you get the best care possible.

What happens in your first appointment? You’ll start with a chat about your health history and what you want to achieve. Then, you’ll do some movement tests to see how your body is doing. With this info, you and your EP will make a plan that might include one-on-one sessions, exercises to do at home, or both. Remember to wear comfy clothes and bring a water bottle and a towel.

Our services include:

  • Help for private patients with or without health insurance
  • Rehab for work injuries
  • Help after car accidents
  • Exercise sessions for one person or a group
  • Plans covered by Medicare
  • Support for people with disabilities (NDIS)
  • Help for veterans (DVA)

Who can benefit from seeing an EP? Everyone! Whether you’re dealing with a chronic illness, trying to prevent falls, wanting to age healthily, managing pain, recovering from an injury, changing your lifestyle, or dealing with mental health issues, an EP can create a personalized exercise plan for you.

Individual exercise sessions:

It’s all about what you need. You might work out at the clinic, a local gym, or even at home with your own gear. It’s all about finding the right type of exercise for your goals.
